The Life of an Author

Good Morning.

Here I sit typing away at my computer, whether it be my search for my email messages or trying to complete my sequel Please, God, Not Two; This Killer Called Alcoholism. June 19, 2009, my second memoir Someone Stop This Merry-Go-Round; An Alcoholic Family in Crisis had been self-published by Infinity Publishing.

My daily tasks are full of decisions: do I spend the day promoting, marketing, booking book signings, trying to schedule private or public speaking engagements, calling on editors from newspapers or hosts from television or radio shows? The events keep me tied up for eight hours easily per day. My devoted, patient husband, Al, sees my back for hours while I type away.

He has become a partner with helping me complete my sequel. It's about losing my precious daughter, Lori Cahill of North Dighton, MA on November 22, 2006 at age thirty-nine from alcoholism. The same killer that took my husband, Richard Lopes of North Dighton, in 1985 at forty-five years of age. I completed his story fighting this horrible, worldwide disease in Someone Stop This Merry-Go-Round.

I'm hoping my blog helps others to relate to my memoir that opened my past suffering in the early 1960's behind closed doors. Maybe we can share our hurts, pain and losses. This is a family disease and it would be wonderful if abusers could join in my blog by telling me their story that is consumed with fear, loneliness and hopelessness.
